Overthinking fanfiction
Nov. 22nd, 2020 06:00 pmI have an idea for a fanfic I want to write - a whole series of them in fact - but I've never written before and I'm overthinking everything. It's stupid because I know no-one is even going to read them, this is definitely something I want to write for myself.
It's reader-insert fic about two musicians that I have a major crushes on - essentially sexual fantasies/dreams I've had about them. I figure other people can write theirs, I can write mine. It sounds like it could be fun - and it might get it out of my system, since the other option for doing so is never going to happen!
I'm starting with how I write it. I'm torn between writing it in first or second person (I did 'xyz' vs you did 'xyz'). I like the first line both ways "I don't think I've ever been this excited" but "You don't think you've ever been this excited" also sounds thrilling to me. Or do I make a character - I could give her my name or a completely made up name. "She doesn't think..." or "Rowan doesn't think..."
Having written that, I definitely prefer 'you' or 'I' to 'she/Rowan'. Duly noted!
See? Too many choices and far too much overthinking for a BDSM PWP RPS fanfic that no-one's going to write.
If I could just get this decided, I think the rest of it will be easy to write. I know the whole story - and we use the term loosely here, and I can hear and see it all. I just need to decide how I'm writing it!
