I have an idea for a fanfic I want to write - a whole series of them in fact - but I've never written before and I'm overthinking everything. It's stupid because I know no-one is even going to read them, this is definitely something I want to write for myself.

It's reader-insert fic about two musicians that I have a major crushes on - essentially sexual fantasies/dreams I've had about them. I figure other people can write theirs, I can write mine. It sounds like it could be fun - and it might get it out of my system, since the other option for doing so is never going to happen!

I'm starting with how I write it. I'm torn between writing it in first or second person (I did 'xyz' vs you did 'xyz'). I like the first line both ways "I don't think I've ever been this excited" but "You don't think you've ever been this excited" also sounds thrilling to me. Or do I make a character - I could give her my name or a completely made up name. "She doesn't think..." or "Rowan doesn't think..."

Having written that, I definitely prefer 'you' or 'I' to 'she/Rowan'. Duly noted!

See? Too many choices and far too much overthinking for a BDSM PWP RPS fanfic that no-one's going to write.

If I could just get this decided, I think the rest of it will be easy to write. I know the whole story - and we use the term loosely here, and I can hear and see it all. I just need to decide how I'm writing it!

So, Rowan, why are you starting a good blog?
That's a good question, Rowan, and I'm glad you asked.

I shall now stop pretending to be John Hammond in Jurassic Park, but I will talk about why I'm here, what I'm doing here and what I'm hoping to get out of it.

I love meeting new people, and having good (or bad, or any, really) conversations with people. and Dreamwidth seems like a great way to do this - meet people with similar/the same interests and chat about them.
There have been far too many times in work - back the in the days of yore when we could actually go to the office - when everyone would be talking about last nights Coronation Street or Eastenders or Strictly Come Dancing... and I'd ask if anyone saw idk Star Trek: Discovery or Supernatural and crickets. GBBO (and sometimes Top Gear) seems to be the only common ground I have with muggles.

Writing experience and to find a writing routine, and maybe my voice. I love reading fanfiction and actually have ideas on things I want to write, but I don't know where to start. I have no experience of writing of any kind, be it journalling or fiction, and the only way to learn is to try.

To help sort out the swirling in my head, and by putting pen to paper hopefully be able figure out what's stressing me out, causing me anxiety or bringing me down. This could also lead to self-growth as I'm taking the time to reflect and give myself a different perspective on my life
